All throughout my high school experience i was blessed with some of the best educators who endlessly encouraged and believed in me, however i and many others missed out on countless opportunities due to lack of representation of such activities. For the 3 years i've been here the administration was quite scattered between hostile and nonchalant, even now as a senior they care more about dress code then individuals doing unmentionable things in the restrooms. Overall mcallen high school provides solid education, with plenty of distractions, and a hint of obliviousness within some staff.k
Beginning at this high school was petrifying at first as a freshman incoming from middle school, but with the help of wonderful teachers and counselors I felt at peace. From my experience I believe everything was well organized and well done. From the pep-rally to the graduation every event was well executed to the students including myself. I will miss greatly high school, not just for the friends, but for the amazing teachers with great personality and parent traits as well. To the counselors who helped me with my questions on college , I wish I could say a well deserved thank you. To the janitors who I always saw cleaning , their work is always valued. To the lunch ladies as well , who always greeted every student with a smile, I will miss those ladies that made my day. McAllen High school was an amazing high school and I wouldn’t go to any other, I will miss my High school and wouldn’t change it for the world
My favorite part of McAllen High School, is how much our principal, Mr. Canales, cares about the arts. As a thespian who is apart of our theatre department, I always see him supporting and watching our shows. Knowing that our staff cares for all aspects of their extra-curricular’s creates a comfortable and safe environment. I also love my theatre family! I look forward to seeing my theatre teacher, Mr. B, and all of my friends everyday. I enjoy working with them onstage, and learning from Mr. B, as I know that everyday I am becoming a more experienced and knowledgeable actress. As for the negatives, there aren’t any negatives that can’t be found nationwide in every other school due to our flawed school system. For example: Unfair dress code restrictions, lack of communication between teachers and students, and students being over-worked and over-stressed accompanied with teacher’s failure to sympathize or understand the pressure the school system puts on their students.
