My personal expirence so far at maywood middle school has been a rocky ride. In my opinion there could be some work done around the diversity and administration. When people think of diversity of a school they most likely will think about backgrounds and cultures. Maywood is diverse in those areas for sure, and but excepting ones sexuality and race is a whole other story. I constintly here words that shouldn't be said to another student, about there race and sexuality. No one ever does anything about it. We have 3 admin and they only ever give warnings, never consequences. They also often target kids who get in trouble more often. Lets say the quite kid in the back corner was sitting next to the "trouble maker" and the quiet kid does something they arent supposed to do. Who do you think gets in trouble, the "trouble maker" of course. Admin need to see both sides of the story regardless for what that student has done in the past. Everyone deservse a second chance.
I'm a pretty good student. I won "charger of the year" back in 2012 but that doesn't change how much I despised middle School. This is not a place for your average kids. This is a place for the populars and jocks. Everyone else is left behind, has no voice, and is put into uncomfortable situations due to peer pressure and cruel teachers. Students will ignore you if they don't have anything to gain from you. The new friends you will make most likely won't even be your friends when you graduate high school. Overall, this was the worst 3 years of my life.
It is a good school academically, its the environment that the people make. some teachers are obviously better for some and they can make u feel stupid and dumb. The students there are very strange and make you feel uncomfortable. overall i have learned a lot there but their are some druggies and people who think they are popular. and worst of all people compete for the worst life to make you feel bad for them. the school is ok, the people are... interesting.
