The schools that I had attended before I went to Mayo were very large in comparison, and as a result the transition to Mayo was a bit jarring. I now received individual help, knew almost everyone in the school, and all of the teachers know my name! It is one of the best things in schools that I hadn't even known I was missing in the years before I attended mayo.

Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology is the place to be! As soon as you step on campus, you can feel the love that everyone has for each other. Everyone here is family. Our name may say that our main focus and strengths are mathematics, science, and technology, but on the contrary, our school is strong in ANYTHING we put our minds to. It’s a safe campus and we have a honor code. Seriously, we can leave our items sitting outside and come back with everything in tact! If you love small environments then this is the place to be. I know it may sound crazy, but I've never had someone take the time to get to know all of their students the way our principal does. In fact, our whole faculty and staff genuinely loves and cares about us. With me being a senior, I know that I couldn't have been more prepared. I will be going to college with college credits and extra knowledge of how to prepare for life thanks to programs that we have during school called "Phoenix Phocus".
At Mayo High school teachers care for the students and want them to do their very best. Our principal is considered 'strict' but she tries her hardest to make sure everyone succeeds in life. We have a diversity of students who are interested in different activities and have different goals in life. What makes this school different from others is that we are an actual family, we all try our best to do outstanding work in all of our classes. As our principal tells us everyday "Hard work pays off." One thing I wish was better at my school would be for the students to take better care of it, bathrooms are unkept, and students leave trash outside after lunch.
