This school district is laden with bigotry (particularly sexism, racism, and heterosexism)—on individual, cultural, and institutional levels. It’s not a healthy environment for a student to learn and grow in. The vast majority of the faculty, staff, and admin are suffering from deeply embedded issues of spiritual, intellectual, and emotional inadequacy. This hinders students from reaching their full potential—something every rural Arkansan deserves. Do your child a favor (especially if they’re LGBTQ, of color, female, or disabled) and send them to a school where they can flourish.

The school system's academic level was awful, and it many times felt like I was not getting anything out of my classes. Though the school was not pushing me academically, I still gave it a high rating because of how much the teachers care. They want you to succeed and push you in life situations. The school has a family feel because most of us come from the small town. We all are very close, so it is a second home. The school also has many clubs that a student can join. They are all a blast, and I love being able to be involved. It is also a very safe feeling environment as well.
Mayflower High School is an extremely small school. This gives students the advantage to have the oppurtunity to have one on one tudoring with a teacher during classtime. One thing that I would change - or at least attempt to change - would be the funding. Money does not go to the areas that it is needed, such as books and computers, or even student safety for that matter, but instead to sporting events and school board members.
