Mayflower High School Reviews
Rating 3.42 out of 5 100 reviews
Mayflower high school gave me many close friends but the staff, rules, and school are all outdated. For example, there are only 3 teachers for all english grades and another one is quitting this year- making it only two. We are understaffed. Also most of the sinks in my school are broken. Our automatic doors don't open either. Teachers only dress code "thicker girls." There are a lot of issues with the school because we don't have good funding or pay (making some of the staff able to be rude and many things are broken). Other than that, my school provides a home like atmosphere and it can be cozy because it is small. The lunch ladies are amazingly nice there as well. My school also tends to do as much as they can for the students so they can have fun. It is a nice school but it is a bit run down. I overall enjoyed my experience there despite that.
Coming to Mayflower High School was a life changing experience for me. I was homeschooled all the way up until 10th grade and when I came to Mayflower, I finally felt whole. I was surrounded in such a positive environment, with teachers and staff that truly care about me and the other students. I was offered so many opportunities and I could not have thought of a better school for me to go to! I love Mayflower High School and I am so grateful that I got to spend my last few years in school there!
I've grown up in Mayflower schools since third grade. The district has some amazingly kind faculty and staff. However, I am not pleased with the way some of the racial situations are handled here. I am an African American student, one of not very many on campus. Since third grade, I have dealt with racial comments but students, and on occasion, some teachers. When I tried to speak on these experiences or ask for help, I was often answered with, "not everyone is going to like you" or, "just ignore them". These situations along with the responses made me feel ignored and unimportant. I am aware that school can't be perfect, however, I think that when a student is going through any type of discrimination in the setting of education and is asking for help, it should be looked into and solved immediately.
