I think McDonough is a good school, the students and faculty are very accepting of everyone no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you do. They offer many clubs and activities for everyone to enjoy and there are always pep rallies, spirit weeks, or PBS events being planned. It’s not very common to have a week where there isn’t something involving school spirit happening.
McDonough does not have the best sports but we do have a great Cheerleading, Soccer and Lax team that always shines some light on us. Did I mention that we are the smallest school in the entire county ?
We may be small but our spirit is high.
Go Rams!

My experience at Maurice J. McDonough High school went pretty well though there were a few things that hindered my academic performance. The biggest impact on my performance were the teachers. McDonough has some great teachers that encourage the students to suceed , but there is a lack of teachers. In my personal experience, I had a long-term subsitute for more than 3/4s of my Sophmore year and found it difficult to learn from a teacher who was not familiar with the content enough to teach it. Fortunately, the subsitute provided math resources such as Khan Academy and became determined to learn with us.
I am now a senior at McDonough and can say that it proudly promotes anti-bullying, career-readiness and inclusitivity in all aspects of the school and is an overall wonderful community to be a part of. Maurice J. McDonough may not be "perfect", but the staff and faculty members definately try the best they can to create a supportive environment for students to learn.

The school experience depends on how you make it. Thankfully, I found my group of friends, but it wasn't without meeting some very toxic people before hand.
Discipline is rarely enforced, and instead of worrying about people doing drugs in the bathroom and outside the trailers, staff seems to be more preoccupied about girls' shoulders and short/skirt length. There is a general complaint about staff being unfair and rude at times. I have also heard many stories of sexual harassment, a lot being cyber, and one even being within the school (a staff member against a student) that the school seems not to notice at all. A lot of people don't have any sort of decency here.
There is a lack of preparation for college, and the school only promotes community college without giving us the opportunity to even consider university.
Also, the food was quite unsatisfactory, and I often skipped lunch unless I really was that hungry.
