Blount High School is sure to open the eyes of a student of any race or nationality that has not been exposed to a predominantly black, fun, family-like atmosphere. Blount High School has lots of great programs and career ready pathways, which is another way to prepare students for life after high school of the student chooses not to go to college. Blount has an amazing football team, cheer squad, dance team, and the greatest senior sponsor. It’s always something fun happening on campus and there’s never a dull moment. The teachers are great role models for students because most of them went to college and even pledged one of the D9 sororities such as the Deltas, the Omegas, and the AKA’s. I would definitely recommend for someone who wants to know what HBCU life might be like before they attend one. The work load is very manageable and is definitely one of the best schools in Mobile County thus far.
I like how my school participate in different activity and how they involve everyone so that the students can have confident and would never hesitate on doing anything new. I love sports and playing games and basically being an active person I like how my school also focuses on students extra curriculum activity and won’t just give us pressure on our work, studies and other stuff and will always courage us to do what we like the best.
I've had the best experience at Mattie T. Blount High School. Our motto is we set the example we don't get made into one and that encourages me everyday to lead instead of follow. Blount has high standards because they want all their students to be successful. While Blount has high standards they also make school fun with all the different activities and clubs. Blount is the perfect school you learn and get pushed to do better while also getting the opportunity to have fun and enjoy high school. One thing I would like for Blount to change is trying to push all their students to college. They feel you have to go to college to be successful which isn't true. I think Blount should include welding, engineering and plumbing as pathways as well.
