As a current senior at MSTMA, I must remark that the school does justice to students who want to succeed in college. Despite the unsafe surrounding school environment, I am grateful for being granted a wide selection of club and sports activities, ranging from the Robotics club to the Opposing Animal Cruelty club. The teachers fortunately acknowledge students' mental health and often make it a priority to ensure students get the additional help they need. The school offers countless opportunities for students that encourages students to get involved and become active members of the student body. I have witnessed a significant improvement in student participation over the last few years, but there is still potential for more student involvement. While in the Associate Student Body in my junior year, I learned that staff members often discuss issues that could make students feel as if they are not being included or don't feel safe; staff members seemingly show their care for students.
Amazing teachers who truly do care about your learning and education. Recently, there has been more investment in music, art, and computer science. They will prepare you fairly well for college through AP classes and the Service Learning Project. Primarily a Latino school, and a big emphasis on school/community culture and pride.
It’s great for students who are confident they can succeed in math, but in others ways it’s diminishes it’s excellent humanities team and belittles there abilities. The math teachers are straight from hell, have no compassion and make school feel bad. They make it feel like I’m there to get a Grade not teach. The English and history teachers make this school 10x better. Hoenstly it’s just easy to burn out here, so if you come to this school, manage your mental health and don’t overtake classes.
