Maternity of Mary - St. Andrew School Reviews

3 reviews
The middle school teachers of the core subjects - math, literature, English, social studies, science and religion - are awesome. I couldn't be a middle school teacher, too many hormones running through those classrooms, but they handle it very well. One of the things I liked best about being at small school was that the teachers can really get to know the students and their learning styles and preferences. My favorite teacher of all time was my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Lang. She retired two years ago. She was very approachable and fun, but we still learned a lot. She was very knowledgeable about many subjects and taught us a lot of life lessons.

I went to this school for ten years, and I wished it had a high school, I didn't want to leave. My class was really special, we were all very good friends. I thought I would miss them when we moved on to high school - we went to seven different high schools - but I didn't get a chance to. We all still see each other. Our last year together was the best and most of that was school-related: The eighth-grade play. The weekend retreat. The class trip to Valleyfair, Como Park, Festival of Nations. The field trips to the Guthrie theater and the new baseball stadium. The class Christmas party. The all-school dances. Field Day. The Science Fair. Playing sports together - whether you had any talent or not, we were all encouraged to play, which just deepened those bonds. While we have all moved on, if I could do it all over again, I would definitely choose MMSA.
In addition to band, student council, choir, drama and yearbook, they offer enrichment clubs - things like chess, Legos, art, jewelry making, archery, etc. The school sports include soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, baseball, softball, and cross country. A lot of choices for a small school.
