Being a senior at Mater Dei High School, I am a student, but I am also a citizen. I am a citizen of Mater Dei-ville. Mater Dei has a very unique and intricate system as to how the student council (or the government as we call it) runs. There is a mayor, clerk, and judge which run the different sections of our government, I, madom clerk, was inaugurated at my very own special ceremony which was ran by our principal. After that inauguration ceremony, I had the privilege of swearing in the remaining council members including the mayor and judge. I then delivered an encouraging speech to the school and made my promises to fulfil the office of clerk. Mater Dei's student government has truly helped me grow into the person that I am today. I am thankful that my parents chose for me to go to Mater Dei because if I could go back now, I would not change a single thing.
Review Mater Dei High School
Mater Dei High School gives you a lot of opportunities to join different groups and activities. The school spirit is the highest I've ever seen at a school and all of the students are extremely passionate about their school. The sports teams do amazing, the marching band has gone to state five times in a row, and their academics are on par with many colleges. Mater Dei is unique because it is its own city within a city. What I mean is, the city of Materdeiville is run smoothly by our student government, which is modeled after the government of Evansville. Mater Dei is an amazing, close knit community.
Mater Dei High School was a very welcoming community. However, it was not perfect. I would like to change the amount of classes offered. Since it is not a public school funded by the government, they must cut the amount of classes offered and teachers that would teach them.
