Maspeth High School Reviews
Rating 4.18 out of 5 107 reviews
My daughter entered Maspeth HS in September of 2020 s a freshman and the faculty made a difficult school year so easy and fruitful given the circumstances. We can not say enough about the teachers, and our wonderful Principal, who are fiercely dedicated to the students' education, well-being, and safety. My daughter plays two Varsity sports, plus participates in Thespian Club all year, which in most schools I am told is not possible as the students in other schools must choose between the arts and sports to eliminate conflicts. At Maspeth, every effort is made (if you keep your grades up!) to accommodate the student and allow for varied experiences. There is an incredible amount of school spirit here. The building is new, only 12 years or so old as of 2023, so it is state of the art, bright, and clean. Current PTA is very active. The only negative so far is that my soon to be senior doesn't want to think about college because she doesn't want to leave Maspeth HS.
The most promising experiences of my high school was definitely becoming closer to staff members/ teachers after school. Whether it be just talking about school or doing after school activities. During Covid, there were many changes in the school, staff/teacher leaving, classes that weren’t able to be taken due to lack of fundings in the school. I was not able to take a certain class because there was a limited amount of seats in the class and if you didn’t need that credit you couldn’t take the class. I would like to see more variety of classes offered at this school.
Maspeth High School has consistently provided a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere, fostering a sense of belonging. The presence of dedicated educators and staff members has ensured a reliable support system throughout my educational journey. The individuals within this institution have played a pivotal role in shaping my character and facilitating my personal growth over the course of several years.
