Mary G Montgomery tries to do a lot of things. Key word being tries. The administration is very difficult to work with and they punish students for wanting to get ahead. Students are not told of opportunities to take harder classes unless they demand them. This leaves students bored and other students struggling. The staff are very uninspired except for a select few. Mr. Mutchnick is a wonderful example of an excellent teacher. Otherwise, you get teachers who are burnt out and unable to add life in the classroom. The money goes to football and the other programs get almost nothing. The fine arts program is one of the only highlights of Mary G. I am going to college for engineering and none of the classes, except for classes taken at the local colleges, have prepared me for my major. If you go to this school, be informed and try to talk to your counselor about your options, otherwise you will coast to graduation on mediocrity.
Mary G. Montgomery High School is a great overall school. The teachers and principals really do make their best effort to help students succeed. They are really focused on ACT and helping students in any way to raise their score. They believe in their students. The student life itself is also very good. Football games is where all the students come to rally together and show their support. And not even for just football. At most volleyball and basketball games you will see a student section cheering the team on. Our school took tons of school buses and drove over three hours to support our basketball team! The clubs and activities to join are endless and you are bound to find where you belong there.
MGM is truly one of the best high schools! They do all they can to help provide great learning areas. The principle truly cares about the students and does what he can to help, always.
