MRHS is a great school with a variety of classes so students can choose the best fit for their learning style. The IB program is outstanding & truly prepares students for life after high school. It's a lot of work, but if your student is motivated & loves learning, it's an excellent option! MRHS has its share of high achievers, which can make it an uphill battle for some of the best students to stand out from the crowd in everything from academics to athletics. The school is located in an affluent area with students feeding in from surrounding neighborhoods. The “Marvin bubble” is not a true representation of the world outside. IB is a countywide program so Union County students are able to apply. This should help with bringing in a more diverse student body, something we recognize a need for. Just "good" players rarely have a chance to experience athletics because the competition is tough. Talk among parents & students feeds the overachievement frenzy.

Marvin Ridge has an extremely high rating among other high schools in the area. Though this seems positive and to some extent it can be, it also puts pressure on students. Marvin Ridge’s students are extremely competitive with grades and achievements. This puts academic pressure on students and pushes them to peruse more rigorous classes that will help obtain a higher GPA. Though Marvin Ridge is a great school and provides a myriad of opportunities to its students, the competition among students has proved to be unhealthy in aspects of their lives.
The students are not that bad here except for a few. This school is more on the liberal side. The school spirit is not that great. The pep rally’s are boring and many kids leave when the pep rally rolls around. Not that many kids participate in school spirit week thought the school week but the most popular one by far is the class color day. The cafe food is okay. The teachers are nice if you are well behaved but our math and science department is not as great because some of the teachers are not the best. The clubs are good here on the bright side. Not everyone here is an angel. Some kids get into serious trouble at this school. Also, if you are a new kid, it’s a possibility that you might get teased because last year was my first year in the Marvin Ridge schools but now, I don’t get teased anymore.
