MLK started out easy. I’ve made many friends at this school. I’ve also had 2 unforgettable teachers this year in math and biology and they both were excellent, kind and made the subjects fun. I loved having them! However, I did have 1 teacher this year that did not care about the way students liked their class. The teacher didn’t care about my physical well-being. I think they should have cared, encouraged students and gave more help. I struggled a lot in their class and i’ve had friends who struggled more than I did to the point of failing. As school went on, homework and exam load increased to the point that it’s extremely stressful for many students. It’s hard to handle stress. I’ve experienced a lot of stress from workloads. I also feel discouraged by how school ended. I didn’t have opportunities to say goodbye to my friends on the last day of school due to final exams. Overall, I feel like I learned a lot this year from MLK and my amazing teachers.

MLK has a great community. Academics is the focus most definitely. I have been there for six years and I have only had a problem with one teacher. The administration and their communication can be difficult at times, but it has much improved since I was in 7th grade. There is student support for every single sport and I believe that is really important. It is a great place to prepare for college!
Martin Luther King Magnet High School is a great school academically that is extremely helpful in preparing its students for college. Each teacher there shows genuine care for the well-being of their students, and takes time to help students learn complicated material. Students are challenged by being put into rigorous honors classes as their core education. Because of the rigor from these classes, each child finds helpful ways to study and manage time to best help their academic success. The academically-challenging environment of Martin Luther King Magnet helps give students good work-ethic and work-managing skills, which are extremely important in college and careers.
