I love the environment that MLK creates for it's students. MLK works hard to challenge their students in academics and life. It expands their students knowledge and opportunities to different sciences, mathematics, and engineering options. MLK also creates a place for their students to feel safe to express themselves and grow their understanding of different cultures and ways of life. Due to the large diversity in MLK, the interaction among the students allows them to witness new ways of thinking and opinions. This opens the students up to have an open mind when it comes to different situations. MLK has been a wonderful place to learn, grow, challenge, and experience life. MLK has allowed me to expand my way of thinking and way of interacting with others. This will allow me to be prepared for future interactions with others from different backgrounds than mine. MLK is preparing their students, not just for colleges or careers, but for life.
Although the school is great academically, I feel as though student life isn't prioritized as well. It's mostly work, and little play and I think that that depresses most students. The only thing they care about is how good our grades are. But, they've gotten us ready for college, and not all faculty is bad. I've made some great relationships with a couple of my teachers. Turner and Harbour are the best! Also, because of diversity, it's pretty easy to fit in somewhere.
Loved this school so much! My high school experience here was unmatched, I made many friends and still am in touch with them to this day. I graduated in 2020 so the circumstances were very different but I loved how the school managed to make light of a hard situation.
