I hated my first year at Mariposa County Highschool. Its in a small town with a small graduating class. I thought myself above the others, but now as a senior my opinion has drastically changed. The culture, school spirit, and amazing staff make the school an amazing experience. The staff treats each student as family, and each student has a unique experience that caters to their needs. My personality has drastically changed from all of the positive experiences I have had at Mariposa Highschool. They even offer a medical class and club to help prepare those who have aspirations to go into the medical field achieve their dreams. I believe Mariposa County Highschool is full of friendship, love, and encouragement. Anyone would be lucky to go here and experience just how great it is. I am so appreciative that I got to live out my four years of Highschool at such an amazing place.
You know what I miss about MCHS? The people. Everyday, I walked through the hallways without the fear of being anonymous because there was always someone to say hi to, someone to give a wave, a chat, whatever. At MCHS, you will never walk alone. Looking back, I'll always have MCHS to thank for making high school a solid four years. From senior projects fun (shout-out to Milo for his awesome Star Wars film) to screaming on the sidelines while our basketball team kicked some major butt (Class of 2016 WHOO!), there;s rarely a dull moment. And, yeah, not going to lie, there's not a lot of options in terms of classes. You get what you get. The school is just on the side of understaffed and underpaid. But what it lacks there, it makes up for in teachers who care. The teachers are the best part of MCHS. They give the school it's life and soul. Without them, it just wouldn't be the same tight-knit experience. I loved MCHS, and so will you.
Mariposa high is lacking in ethnic diversity and club variety. The majority of the student body don't participate in the community and there is no sense of wholeness and community. Despite it's shortcomings, however, mariposa is a relativly safe school with faculty members and teachers fully dedicated to bringing out their student's full potential.
