Every school has its own personality, its own reputation, and I believe Marina is known for its welcoming, accepting character. I am a dedicated AP student, and I have taken most of the AP courses at this school. Each teacher cares about their students, willing to help us work through our mistakes and ensure we understand the material. There is a wide range of clubs, as students start their own clubs, to include almost any interest you could imagine. Although our sports may not always win, being on a sports team at Marina is like joining a welcoming family. The music and arts program is amazing as well, putting on exquisite shows, concerts, and art showcases. The cafeteria food served is quite good, but the area around Marina is one of the best in the district. On all three sides of the intersection, there are multiple food shops, a pharmacy, grocery store, bank, and even a gym. The facilities at school are kept clean and always working, the faculty doing an extremely good job.

As a shy freshman, I thought that going to high school would be a big change for me. A couple of years passed and I found my own little bubble at Marina as I joined clubs like the Vietnamese Student Association, Make-A-Wish, WAVE, and Key Club. Additionally, I joined the badminton team. There were many classes to choose from and I never felt like I could not find anything that interested me. Marina has a very inclusive environment. I did not feel like I needed to fit in nor did I feel out of place. I was able to be my own person without any judgement from anyone. Teachers were always so understanding and helpful towards students. At Marina, I found the most genuine people, including some of my best friends. It is crazy how in eighth grade I did not want to attend this school because I did not know anyone going to Marina, since I came from a small private school. However, this was the best decision of my life and I have my parents to thank for that.
Marina High School is a school that you cannot judge by the outside. The school is not very appealing but if you look deeply inside, there are great teachers and people that support everyone. Many of the teachers at Marina care for the students and put in all their time and effort to make sure the students are comfortable with the material and understand better. Lots of teachers offer their time before and after school to provide extra help to those who need it. The education and support from the teachers are excellent to help each and every student be prepared for their future after high school. My four years of attending Marina is amazing but the only thing I wish to be changed is for there to be more inclusiveness with the students and also make the school cleaner and safer.
