As a parent with two MA grads over 9 years I can say the school is slipping in quality. Administration is disconnected from the students and becoming more so each year. Some great teachers, but over all, this is a chaotic place with inconsistent policies, social bullying, and a huge gap between what they say and what they do. Do your homework, there is a lot to know behind the curtain!

Marin Academy is a private high school in San Rafael, CA. It is academically rigorous, and students are self-motivated academically. It is lacking in extracurricular rigor, students opt to do more activities than to focus on one and spend more time in it. The school has a great campus and atmosphere, but diversity within the student body is severely lacking. Overall a great school that could improve some aspects!
I loved the Marin Academy theater program and their music program is first rate. Their teachers love what they teach and all have unique styles/voices/opinions. The new science building is fantastic, and students really take advantage of it. Many interesting students and interesting conversations had all around. Administration is very out of touch with student body but does a generally good job managing the school.
