Marie Murphy School Reviews

I only visited during a combine chorus with New Trier High school. The kids are out of control. Before the concert, kids were running up and down the bleachers making a lot of noise. Parents do not control their kids nor did the principal. One parent told me that this is the norm. Kids were bouncing on the bleachers through out the concert. Just by this observation, the kids are not taught manners. Thank goodness my kids went to school in the Winnetka district.

The science program is beyond amazing, and every student is pushed to reach their own personal potential by the great science teachers. I felt that learning science at Marie Murphy was a privilege that inspired my genuine interest in science. The math program, especially in eight grade, was a terrible experience. The entire year, none of my classmates learned anything and our failure to gain anything out of the math class was completely ignored by the teacher, who was the worst teacher I have ever had. As a result of these two drastically different departments, I started high school with a strong background in science and excelled in my biology class, but greatly struggled in my geometry class. Amongst the other teachers and adults of Marie Murphy, the gym teachers, speech and theatre teacher, librarians, principal, and social studies teachers were also supportive of all the students and were great role models. A few others were decent, and the rest were just horrible. The diversity of the student population was pretty nice, but some other students I attended this school with were unpleasant to attend school with because of their rudeness, arrogance, and also a few cases of bullying or harassment. Overall, I think that if some students and teachers had been more respectful of everyone else and had actually contributed to a better school environment, Marie Murphy would have been an outstanding school that I would have wanted to attend without a doubt.
