Maria Carrillo High School Reviews
Rating 3.74 out of 5 351 reviews
Maria Carrillo High School, located in Santa Rosa, California, is a highly regarded public high school known for its academic excellence and diverse student body. One of the most likable things about Maria Carrillo is its dedicated and supportive staff, who are committed to helping students succeed both academically and personally. The school offers a wide range of challenging academic programs, including Advanced Placement courses and numerous extracurricular activities, such as athletics, music, and clubs. Also the school has state-of-the-art facilities, including a newly renovated gymnasium, theater, and library, which provide students with a comfortable and modern learning environment. There is also a strong sense of community, with students and staff coming together to support one another and celebrate their achievements. Overall, Maria Carrillo High School is a wonderful place to learn and grow, with an exceptional academic program, supportive staff, and a welcoming community.
First and foremost, the teachers at this school are fantastic! They seem to truly care about us as students, and they know what they are doing. Each department works closely together to make sure that they are doing their part to deliver a high quality education to students.
MCHS has its fair share of extracurriculars. Some are intellectually stimulating, some are athletic, and some are just plain fun. Between clubs and electives, there seems to be something for everyone to enjoy (provided they have enough motivation to seek it out).
Unfortunately, MCHS has rampant academic dishonesty. Many students are very focused on grades, and a majority of those students view cheating as a viable way to get better grades. This aspect of the MCHS environment can pressure individuals to behave in unethical ways in order to "keep up" with the grades of their classmates. MCHS has its fair share of issues, but in my opinion, this is the worst problem it has.

Maria Carrillo is a challenging school, but it has a great campus! You have to work super hard, even in non honors/AP classes and it isn't the type of school you cruise by with grades. However, it challenges you and prepares you for the worst.
