Switching from Rock Canyon High School to Mesa was the best decision i've made. Coming from a school with zero support, and treated different if you were considered a low student gave me no motivation to do my best throughout my Freshman and sophomore year.
My beginning of Junior year in mesa was automatically different and I enjoyed it, I enjoyed the amount of support I was gaining from the first moment I walked in. They helped me realize how much I could actually achieve and that I was smart, I wasn't a low student. I went from D's and F's at Rock Canyon to A's and B's at Mesa.

Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts is a school that does not stress the idea of a future beyond high school. It is focused on catering to the select few students who are willing to learn and do more for their future. Unfortunately, the students who are not dedicated to their studies often fall behind and are discouraged. The school does not issue homework assignments or rarely do simply because the teachers have learned that the students will not complete the assignments assigned. The teachers do an okay job as far as teaching material but as far as going beyond for their students or even helping them get to college by providing recommendations some do falter in this area. I find that doing more outside of their job is quite difficult for some due to other priorities which is understandable yet difficult for students trying to create a future for themselves.
Well I would give my school a 3.5 rating. We are a community-based school and we care about each of our students. We're not afraid to make changes and show that any of our students can have support. Teachers and classmates helped me become more vocal in my writing, speech, and even my art. They helped shape who I am now, which is an organized and helpful leader. Things that I think MESA could improve on is the availability of classes that could relate to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Having these resources could give students choices or ideas of what they could maybe do as a career. This creates a separation of critical thinking and writing to working with your hands or build experience to life. Overall, MESA is a good school and they have prepared me for what is to come after I graduate.
