In the four years I've spent at manvel highschool I've gotten to know the school a lot. A couple of things I love about manvel is their diverse range of opportunities. Their partnership with jbh really helps students get in tune with what career they plan to go into by allowing them real experience in that field. I also love that they have many different clubs, there's a club for everyone! I suppose I should warn about the college readiness though, they make it very independent, but this also allows you to become more self serving of yourself and less dependent on others to do stuff for you. The food here has to be one of my least favorable things about this school unfortunately, but im biased because I prefer to bring my own lunch. Overall this school is pretty good at preparing you for the future using special classes and courses to help you achieve your goals.
Manvel High School has many extracurricular programs that broadens students opportunities of exploration. Ap and Dual Credit classes are offered for one to get ahead in their educational future, but getting informed on which step is most beneficial to take is a struggle. Without guidance from an experienced high school graduate or the right guide that is in your favor, you would leave it to chance that the most beneficial path is taken. The school has many staff that is very nice and considerate, but there is a handful that are toxic towards the progress of students. Judgement is naturally made of everyone, but due to lack of availability of new staff, some staff are bound to stay. It depends on the kind of student one is that makes or breaks their future, so one must find themselves without much room for mistakes at Manvel High School.
I spent all four years at Manvel High School as an AP/pre-AP student. Overall, it isn't a bad school in the least. Based on my educational experiences, the teachers and academic quality overall of the courses are, on average, pretty good. The only "bad" experience was this year when one of my teachers seemed to genuinely be disrespectful to students when he was simply not in a good mood due to his prior classes. I am a rather sympathetic person and didn't let it bother me most of the time, but when it's a constant occurrence, one must question the teacher's ability to manage their anger. The other issues I would have with MHS are the counselors and the food. The counselors and lunch ladies are angels who are really doing their best. However, counselors are often unresponsive to students through email, and this is often a problem for people in need.
Then the largest issue, I think, is bullying, especially racial. The consequences for such actions need to be penalized further.
