I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Manasquan Highschool. When I walk through the doors at Manasquan, I automatically feel safe and at home. As I walk up the stairs, I see all my friends standing next to our lockers which makes us feel united. When we see a joyful teacher or student it takes much of our nervousness away for the day. I feel safe as if I can talk to any of the teachers about anything! The football games makes me so excited to see everyone because everyone follows the theme of the game. It shows our school pride. Although there aren’t many negatives, I have one in mind. This is very typical of many highschools, but it is wrong. I am in the dance department of the school and the arts do not get nearly as much funding as the football or basketball team. We have one small room, and our whole class could not fit. For our dance show we almost didn’t have an opportunity to perform on the stage because there wasn’t enough room. The stage! The place that the arts perform on!
Manasquan High School gave me the classic coming-of-age experience that most teens look for. With every season comes a new opportunity to make memories. In the fall, familiar faces reunite to celebrate the new school year with jovial football games and lively pep rallies. Towards the winter, students buckle down with midterm preparation, but can also find enjoyment in the winter band and chorus concerts, and of course, watching Manasquan's star-studded basketball team. As spring flowers bloom, students can participate in Squan-A-Thon, an all-night dance marathon created to fundraise for a unique cause every year. Once school is out, most students make the 5-minute drive, bike, or even walk to the beach to make the most of the picturesque Jersey Shore. At first, Manasquan High School's student life didn't have much of an appeal to me, as my expectations were set extremely high. Though now, I appreciate the lasting memories that 4 years at Manasquan High School can provide.
I had an overall good experience in High School. Teachers are approachable and available for questions or help and advice. Class sizes are small and you are able to select most of the courses you want without a problem. Manasquan has academies of focused studies in business, engineering, health sciences, public safety and the arts which allow students to learn if one of these areas is right, or wrong for further focus in college. There were lots of clubs, sports and activities to choose from. Sports play a big part in extra-curricular activities, but there isn't pressure to join if you don't want to.
Areas that could use a refresh, are the foreign language options and additional club sports for students that don't play for the school teams. I also think the senior trip option could be better.
Overall, I received a great education at Manasquan High School.
