Malow Junior high is a great school. They have an excellent music and choir program, and their sports. Safety in the school is a top priority, as it has implemented many precautions such as identification lanyards for students to wear, locked doors with limited access, and frequent police checks. Malow is successful in creating a positive work environment by maintaining a helpful staff of counselors and teachers who care about every student’s educational performance. Teachers work to make sure every student understands the lesson by using diverse ways of teaching concepts. The school also offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities and clubs for students to join and make friends. Overall, Malow is a terrific school for all types of students!
The principal, Mrs. Chesney, does a fabulous job with the school. She is truly the heart and soul of the school, and she is very organised. You can always see her around the school, checking in on classes and saying hello to everyone, and collaborating with her teaching staff. For such a large school, Mrs. Chesney knows many of her 2100 students (including me!) and I know that she genuinely cares about us and this school. My counselor, Mr. Versele, also does a fabulous job. He knows my name and he is very interested in helping students choose the right courses for them and planning for college. He called me into his office about 2 weeks ago to talk with me about my college options and we had a great conversation about my future. I know Mr. Versele cares and he is an A+ counselo. I have also been fairly impressed with Dr. Jones-Lau who is also a counselor. She is not my assigned counselor, but I have still conversed with her during trips to the counseling office and she is very caring and good at what she does too. Same with Mrs. Kittle! I told her my goals of becoming an English teacher in France and we got into a conversation about Framde and she gave me some great advice. However I have also dealt with Mrs. Dunn in the counseling office and I have overall been very unimpressed with her. She comes off as rude, unwilling to help, and doubtful of students. She also seems to be a bit clueless and "blonde". Thank goodness she is nit my assigned counselor.
Awesome school, great teachers. One thing I would like to see change is the Science department, Several teachers need to be reevaluated.
