Making Community Connections Charter School - Monadnock Reviews

My school Making Community Connections Charter School (MC2) is unique. We are competency-based, go all year round, and don't have a GPA. I first went to this school because of my brother. But when I was there I grew to love it. Going all year round has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, scheduling activities with your friends from another school can be hard, since you won't have the same breaks. On the other hand, you don't have to come back from summer and do a recap of things you've already learned. I like that learning outside of school still counts towards my education. I like having internships and valuing community. I changed because of this school. I learned to be a better presenter and socialize more. This school really works on exploring your interests and lets you take education in your own hands, you become self-driven. If I could change anything I would want more students to come, a bigger campus, and more physical education.

I loved being in a small school setting. I thrived in a competency and project based program. One thing that I would change is the autobiography requirement. For me, it felt like busywork. I would also have loved to see more consistency with the teachers. Overall, I really enjoyed going to this school, especially the last year and a half of my education journey.
My experience at the MC2 Charter School has been incredible. You know everybody's name and there is a huge focus on community building. When there are pressing issues affecting the student body, they can call a community meeting and everybody works together to resolve the issue. The internship program helps ready students for the workforce and find career paths they will enjoy, and many students have gotten jobs at former internship sites.
