Mainland Regional Highschool is very community orientated school due to the combination of the three surrounding towns- Somers point, Linwood, and Northfield. Mainland offers a large range of clubs, sports, arts, and music which allows its students to get involved. However, Mainland needs to better prepare their students for college. More one on one with counselors and seminars on how to find the right career path may be helpful for students.

I’m a student here at Mainland. They have a school paper, bowling team, computer club, ecologyclub,Spanish,Latin,French club. Even Clubs for people who love the water like surfing, fishing, and a diving club. This school has the basic classes and then they have Honor classes and AP classes where you can earn college credits. The electives are varied. They have music classes where you can choose to learn how to play the guitar or take keyboard classes. Musical Theory,Improv class, dance class. Just a lot of options for students to take. For sports there is your typical sports like soccer, football, field hockey, etc. Mainland has some interesting sports lacrosse and swimming and Rowing which might not be a sport but it’s popular here. Mainland has a color guard which is stunning to watch. This school goes beyond and above for college. The school has an instant decision day where colleges come here and talk with seniors and accept them that same day in person.
I absolutely love my high school. It’s relatively small but feels just the right size for me. I know whenever I walk down the hallways I can always spot at least ten friends. Everyone is so nice and friendly. There programs are great in drama, sports, and all clubs. Not to mention their guidance program has always made sure I’m in the right classes. There sports are champions in so much whether is tennis, soccer, or swimming. The teachers are always willing to help. Not to mention the school spirit. The football games are the absolute best, even when we don’t win. As we approach the start of school in a few days, I can say I’m truly excited to go back to mainland.
