This school is the only reason i didnt drop out and was able to graduate. I was the first ever valedictorian of the school after barely passing in physical school during previous years due to ongoing chronic illness. There needs to be these other options for kids with other circumstances, so they do not fall to the wayside. Thank you Maine Virtual Academy for allowing me to graduate & show my capabilities, without my health issues stopping me! This is such an important option for parents and their kids to have- without spending money they dont have and without the parents having to quit their jobs to educate their children.
We are new to the Maine Virtual Academy (MEVA) this year and have been amazingly impressed with the strong, positive interactions and support from administrators, teachers, and especially, other students. MEVA wants my child to succeed! In addition to classroom time, all students have options for small group support and individualized attention and reinforcement whenever it is wanted or needed. It is readily apparent that the teachers want their students to succeed – both in the classroom and in their lives; students are encouraged to be the best they can be. Additionally, there has been ongoing, relevant communication with me and my teenager through the parent portal, email and phone calls. Students learn how to track their own responsibilities using the learning platform, academic planners and online resources. Kudos for their focus on self-responsibility while going above and beyond to accommodate all learning styles. Not surprisingly, my child is thriving!
The teachers are very supportive and caring. They really create a personalized and individual experience based on learning styles and communication with the students. Their energy and attitude towards students and their futures are inspiring and motivational. I would completely and wholeheartedly recommend anyone who is school age to go through their programs. They make schooling interesting, fun and a safe space for young growing minds.
