Overall, Madeira is a very decent school made up of mostly middle to upper middle class families and students. The community is very tight knit and everyone is supportive of each other. There's something for everyone here, whether that's joining band, choir, clubs, sports, video production, or entrepreneurship. Classes range from very tough for those looking to challenge themselves academically to very easy for those who aren't as academically inclined. Teachers also range from laid back to very strict, funny to very serious. There will always be some you get along with more than others. Everyone is required to graduate with 40 service hours and 2 years of foreign language classes, 3 years of science classes, 4 years of math classes, 4 years of language arts classes, 4 years of social studies classes, and 2 years of gym or some other form of P.E. credit.
The main takeaway from this school is that the teachers are incredible! We take academics very seriously, but there are so many resources and ways to get help if you are struggling. The people are very friendly, but it is a very small school so everyone knows each other--for good or for bad.
Teachers are well educated and willing to help students learn. I am interested in electrical engineering, and the Physics teacher made an online flex credit AP course for me a couple others, even though her schedule is full!
