I transferred to LT during my sophomore year and I wasn't expecting to join such a wonderful community. My teachers were very caring and helpful in accommodating me during this transition. LT has numerous interesting clubs for students to join and electives that help prepare students or inspire students for their future careers. My previous classes helped prepare me for the SAT and ACT, but also college. The grading system is not the best since grades are mainly based on test scores and a lot of students struggle with this. However, retake options are helpful. Parents are also very involved in the community. For prom, money was raised to get coach buses to take students to prom and back safely. I've met a variety of amazing teachers, students, and staff members during my time at Lyons Township High School. My experience at LT was amazing and I'm proud to be an alum!
I love how caring and dedicated the students and staff are to their school community. The principals and head admin at Lyons truly make you feel loved and safe. Lyons has endless amounts of clubs from astrology to flying an airplane! I have never seen a public school with as many academic class options as Lyons. With classes for students at all levels of education and all interest levels, you could never be bored. Adding on, Lyons has numerous amounts of sports including several water sports as we have a pool at each campus. We have a large school making a very large community, to a new student this could be scary at times, but when you find the right people, it’s an amazing place. Our principal soon to be super intendant is one of the most kind, considerate people Ive ever met. I used to strongly dislike school, but Lyons has truly made me find a home.
I've had a great experience at LTHS! This is my first time in my school career having straight A's and maintaining them. The teachers are great and understanding they are actually willing to work with you and can understand why you don't understand it their way. The homework policy is great here and your grades aren't going to be destroyed over a missing assignment. The teachers are actually understanding about covid-19 I feel they really understand. One thing I think should change not for my sake but other students, our grades are primarily from tests and a lot of people have a very hard time taking tests. I've had a great experience at Lyons and would recommend it to anyone.
