Lynbrook has a very competitive academic environment that can be overwhelming if your time management skills are not that strong. Like many other schools, there are some teachers here that aren't that great at teaching, but in those classes it tends to be okay as long as you study hard on your own. There are also plenty of passionate teachers who really enjoy teaching their subjects, and class is definitely exciting and enjoyable if you get one of them. Students here are not only competitive in academics, but in school spirit as well. Homecoming is a major event here and it is absolutely a blast! If you are looking for a school that challenges you academically and has a spirited student body, this is your school.

I really enjoyed the clear structure for students to follow when choosing courses. In addition, the guidance counselors on campus are some of the best guidance counselors in the high school world. They are very open to hearing student concerns and make their best efforts to resolve issues ASAP.

This school definitely prepared me for college level classes. AP Literature & Writing gave me anxiety everyday, but it improved my SAT writing scores (thanks to my wonderful Lit teachers).

One thing about this school that is not as satisfactory as the academics and the peers on campus would be certain administrative people: such as the attendance clerk and a few Vice Principals. A few teachers don't teach the class well, which seriously should change. Other than these (very) few individuals, Lynbrook is amazing!

I love you Lynbrook, I will miss you!
The academics here are extremely competitive. Students will only succeed here if they truly care about school, otherwise they will not be able to keep up. There's no "bullying" in the traditional, physical sense, but there's a lot of academic pressure and there is a sense of "bullying" in terms of grades. Other than the high standards, I personally believe it's great for those who want to be prepared for college. Again, the school is heavily academic based, so the sport teams aren't a great focus here. This may be good for those who aren't at the highest level for sports, but still wish to play! However, our school lacks so much school spirit that most of our dances are canceled (we now only have homecoming dance and prom).
