I have been studying at Lydia Patterson Institute since 2020, and my experience so far has been average but satisfactory. The people there are welcoming, and the teachers are helpful and available for their students. There is a variety of extracurricular activities for you to choose from. The teachers also offer to tutor after school if you are interested. I highly recommend trying out clubs. They have volleyball, basketball, football, orchestra, student council, newspaper, and chess, and are actively trying to include more because of current changes in the school. Because it’s a private religious school, you must take at least four religion courses before graduating and attend chapel from 8:40 to 9:16 on Wednesdays. I know some people are prejudiced against this topic, so I will leave that information and let you take it as good or bad according to your beliefs. They are currently changing administration, and they are trying to make the school a better place.
Marginalized communities and social justice movements, from the Black Lives Matter to standing up against Asian hate, need more people to amplify their voices, to share their stories. As a person who found it challenging to find my own voice, I want to support other students who need help in finding a sense of belonging and their worth within a community at LPI. I would also bring other communities together like Asian American Association, African Students Organization, Undergraduate Korean Association, and other organizations into a collective community where they can freely listen and share with other nations' people and cultures. As someone who grew up learning multiple languages and cultures, I strongly believe we all share a collective sense of humanity, despite our different backgrounds and experiences. I want to expand the outreach of these communities to the world and I want others to accept and love the complexity that makes up diverse communities.
I loved Lydia Patterson since the first day I attended to that school. It is a great school for many different reasons and one of the most important one it´s the enviroment. There is a lot of good people and a lot of love and caring in the air. Evryone cares for each other and everyones loves God in that amazing school. Being in Lydia Patterson made me realize that there is a lot of good people in the world and that God will always be there with us. I love that they teach us about God and all the things he has done. Although I have been religious all my life, they taught me a lot of things about them. Also, I love the diversity because there is a lot of people of different places like Korea, Europe, Mexico, Japon, etc. Having a lot of different friends is a fundamental part of this school. This school has helped me to learn a lot of things and I am very greatful for that. I love this school and hope to come back after I graduate.
