Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA) is truly a college prep school. Not only is it a residential high school, the teachers have terminal degrees in their field and have extensive experience in their respective fields. LSMSA fosters academic growth and personal maturity in high school students and better prepares them for the transition into college and dorm life. All the students at LSMSA share a passion for higher learning and highly selective colleges recognize the type of students that attend LSMSA.

The Louisiana School for Math, Science, & the Arts (LSMSA) is absolutely phenomenal. Education wise, I can't think of another school more academically challenging. Not only that, but it's a boarding school so students not only get a great education, but they are also thrown into a college-like environment that really prepares them for the future. All teachers here have either a Doctorate degree or Masters in what they specialize in, and they are always willing to help out. Despite minor drawbacks due to funding, the school is limited on dorm environment and cafeteria quality but that doesn't take away from the experience as much as one would think. The sports and activities is limited because this school is meant for academics and focuses its resources towards that specialty. Overall the school is accepting of every type of person and really thrives at expressing originality.
Being a student at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts has truly been a life changing. In the past two years, I have found myself in more ways than one: in my academic studies, my extracurricular activities, my friends, educators, and mentors. Above all, I have found myself in the independence of being a young adult away from home in a welcoming environment. The Louisiana school has been my saving grace in that it has presented me with a space where I am free to discover myself surrounded by people of various backgrounds and interests. In terms of academic opportunities, LSMSA has a plethora of paths that are bound to captivate the attention of any student that is willing to give it a chance. You would be hard pressed to find faculty, staff, and administrators that come close to rivaling those that makeup the LSMSA community. As I approach my final year here, I hope to remember to cherish each moment and memory that I have here because it has truly been life changing.
