This is an EXCELLENT school! My daughter was in a K-8 school and this was her first public school experience and it was great-even in the midst of the pandemic. Our counselor Mr. Riehm was phenomenal, and helped to guide my daughter along the whole way. She just graduated and seriously she had a fabulous high school journey-I’m talking from the academics, to the activities-this school is SOLID!
I adore how Los Alamitos High has many classes and paths for students to take. In fact, a new STEM building was added last year to provide more classrooms, newer chemistry supplies, and a robotics room with computers, a plasma machine, 3D printers, and other manufacturing machines. As a result, the students who are interested in engineering, robotics, and other technology majors are exposed to tools and equipment they will encounter in the future. In addition, Los Alamitos has many art and music programs such as band, jazz band, orchestra, photography, ceramics, art, and dance. To add on, Los Alamitos High has many clubs ranging from D&D, UNICEF, CFA, Emerging Leaders, American Red Cross, Beach Cleanup, and more. The only negative associated with this school is the large number of students who attend it. This commonly leads to classes being around 35 to 40 students, making some students feel claustrophobic and overwhelmed.
Los Alamitos is a place that I was welcomed with open arms. I was able to express myself, broaden my leadership, and find a sense of community in this high school. Though it's big, every teacher cares for their students, and only the best are chosen to teach our young. In Los Alamitos, the most important connection is that with the board of education. They walk through classrooms, interact with students, and treat those that work for them with the utmost respect. I personally have interacted with these people many times due to my position of student representative to the board of education for my school district, and they have showered me in love since I've held the position throughout my senior year. I am so grateful to have gone to a school district where this much love and support is offered to every single student on the campus.
