Long Reach High School is a wonderfully diverse high school campus. The campus is clean, safe, and a great place to learn. The educators prepare students for college readiness. The teacher's are available to provide academic tutoring, the counselors are available to answer questions at a moments notice. The AP and Honors courses, along with Howard Community College courses help prepare students for life after high school. The after school clubs, the wide array sports, and general after school activities promote a feeling of community for the students of Long Reach. The parents are very engaged with the Long Reach scholars, as well as the community at large.

One thing that would be beneficial in enhancing STEM on a radical level for all grade levels. STEM is the future, and many students in high school have not learned how to code, while many younger children have already mastered the skill. Come on Long reach step it up with STEM!

Over the past three years at Long Reach High School I have had an excellent experience. I strongly believe that Long Reach is perfect for all types of students. Long Reach has so many clubs, sports teams, and elective classes that anyone can be apart of. I have made so many relationships with my peers as well as my teachers, administration, and my counselor. I have always felt comfortable being able to talk to the adults at Long Reach and have never been afraid that they would shut me down. All of my teachers have been very kind and easy to talk to. As a Long Reach student I have had access to all the resources I have needed, we also have dual enrollment, classes available at the Applications and Research Lab, and many internship opportunities. My favorite thing about Long Reach is the diversity. Every class, club, sport, and any other activity that I have seen at Long Reach has so much diversity with students and staff who are always welcoming.
Long Reach High School is a school in Columbia, Maryland that is very diverse and culture friendly. It’s located in Howard County, a county known for its academics and safety. The classes and/or courses offered are challenging but exciting at the same time. However, every school has some cons and Long Reach no doubt has a couple things to improve upon. Certain rules need to be changed like better lunch programs, or having the opportunity to eat outside during school lunch hours. Another great possibility would be to allow students to eat at nearby restaurants like Chipotle, Jimmy John’s, Noodles and Company, and/or Subway. This will help better engage students in a learning environment and build social bonds that will last a lifetime. But overall, Long Reach High is a pretty good school with the potential of being great!
