Coursework was too easy for me, so I asked the teachers if there was anything I could do to help keep me challenged. Their answer? "No." Teachers obviously choose favorites, are allowed to hand out "extra credit points" without a given reason, just so the student they like does not fail/ passes. I have seen it happen. The school is awful. Too many students per teacher- an average of 30-some kids per class. Teacher don't care, either. When I switched schools (because the education and quality of everything was so terrible), I was a couple months behind. Faculty shove bullying under the rug. I was being severely harassed by a girl during my last year there, so I went to ask the counselor what to do to help stop it. His response? "Girls can be tricky like that, just let her know how you feel about her treating you like that." When I explained to him how bad it had gotten- getting other people to gang up on my and send me threats and rude messages online, push me around in the hallways, and otherwise harass me every chance they got, he retained his stance that "girls are just manipulative at this stage." Because of his apparent inability to intervene with this situation, I have developed extreme depression and anxiety- especially in the social aspect. Thanks for nothing, Lone star.
