Linn-Mar is a school that is set up so only the wealthy or people with connections can succeed. This school likes to fake perfection, but after being with the district for 13 years, it is anything besides perfect. It is drug ridden, bullying filled and virtually impossible to not graduate. Those who don’t try are put into a building next to the school where they click a computer screen, get retake tests until they get a good enough score, yet get a degree like everyone else. There are fights nearly daily and teachers can often times be overly harsh. As for clubs and classes, there is so much variety and lots of AP classes, with qualified people teaching them.

The best and worst thing about Linn-Mar is its size. Because we're so big, we're able to have an amazing music department which I take full advantage of being in orchestra, chamber orchestra, choir, and show choir. We have tons of opportunities that other schools don't have, but sometimes it shows that we're a bit too big for ourselves. When most of your classes have at least 30 kids, or when you can barely talk to your counselors because they're so busy, it gets a little stressful. But I think the negatives balance out the positives, so overall I enjoy Linn-Mar a lot.
So far, I've enjoyed my time at Linn-Mar for the most part. I've had good experiences with most of my teachers, especially my English teachers. Linn-Mar offers a lot of different opportunities with ways to get involved as well with clubs, sports, and intermurals. They offer many different classes, with some providing an academic challenge. What I haven't enjoyed at times is simply the size and amount of students. I find myself meeting new students each year that I've gone to school with for the past few years and didn't even know their names. While this can be fun for some, sometimes it has annoyed me. Along with this, the number of students can simply be intimidating when it comes to joining sports and clubs, and I've been discouraged from joining some activities based on the large amount of people and talent already participating in these activities. Overall though, I've had many positive experiences at Linn-Mar.
