This school houses a diverse community and offers great after-school activities! While the support for students' education is a little lacking, there are teachers who spend time after school helping students who need help with their academics. Student involvement in the school culture has grown over the past few years, and I hope to see more students show school spirit. One thing I believe this school should improve on is college readiness. I took both honors and regular English classes, and while I learned a lot in the higher level classes, the reality is that the students taking regular English classes at this school are not college-ready. The teachers should work more on engaging students with almost college-level materials so they don't feel overwhelmed once they enter a college or university. Students should receive support and growth during their time in these classes. The teachers are great people, but the material in standard classes should prepare students for success.
I love the diversity and group of friends. I truly met some of the most determined, dedicated, and passionate students (despite their struggles and misfortune). Teachers are always willing to help students and put forth immense effort to sympathize with us. So many of teachers have transformed my life: helping me through depressive and anxiety episodes, making sure I have the opportunity to succeed, and creating a welcoming, engaging classroom environment. There are resources available to assist students mentally, academically, and socioeconomically. However, the school doesn’t really advertise or mandate many of these resources; many students have to go seek them. I find that the academic rigor is lacking. We have few AP and advanced classes, and it seems that the school is making an effort to stupefy the curriculum instead of challenging students and preparing them for post-secondary education. Regardless, I will forever be grateful for my time at Lindbergh.
My experience at Lindbergh was great! As a student, I took advantage of several extra curricular activities that were offered at school. I really enjoyed how helpful my teachers were when it came to college prep. My educators were always happy to answer any questions that I had, and even helped me with letters of recommendation.
