As far as academic standards, Central sets a pretty high standard. Numerous trade/technical and AP courses are available, and in combination with a well equipped counseling staff and college rep visitation program, the school does a good job with career and college prep. However, the population is very homogeneous and therefore there is absolutely no culture that celebrates diversity or promotes inclusion of students from different backgrounds. Rather, having a different experience from the rest of the student body can be isolating, a problem that does not seem to be a major concern of teachers (save a few) or administration.

I attended Lincoln-Way East originally, but due to another school in our district closing, I, along with other students, moved over to Central. Both the staff and students were very welcoming; the teachers are phenomenal, and the students are fantastic. I never saw such a united school body as I have experienced at Central. It's more than just a school, it's our home. As at any school, something I would like to change is the bullying. While we are a united school, there are still issues; bullying needs to end period, not just at an individual school.
As a student who has experienced multiple moves through the school years I have never found as great a school as Lincoln-Way Central! The students and staff are extremely welcoming and they truly have everything to offer as far as clubs and extracurriculars. I am forever thankful for my experience at Lincoln-Way Central.
