I'm not giving three stars because I want to throw shade on LUOA, however I would like to share my perspective as a high school senior especially to parents/older students.
I am finishing my final high school credits at LUOA because I wanted to dual enroll with them. The high school courses are very thorough, teachers are GREAT and I LOVE the biblical perspective.
But as someone who loves learning I cannot say that I have enjoyed the environment. Instead of really being taught and given time to think deeply about great topics, I am being sped through so much information. Its not because it's online--I've been to better online schools. LUOA is quantity over quality.
It is NOT designed to leverage opportunities to engage with students. The purpose is to get classes out of the way and provide a way to earn credits with LU online. My experience: "here's the book take the test, have a great day!" for that? ...WAY overpriced!
I know its been great for some kids but it wasn't for me.

If you can work independently, are responsible, and have basic comprehension skills to understand the lessons then this school is for you!
You can work ahead in the class since there is a set curriculum and no teacher is actively teaching you. Working ahead allows you to have time to do extracurricular activities that will improve your college resume (in my 11th year, I will be participating in Girl Scouts, piano lessons, art classes, and volunteering at a local library).
In my freshman year of public school, I had terrible teachers that constantly waited to grade until the last few days until the quarter ended (and lost many papers) and I was self-conscious. My fear of how others viewed me along with unnecessary drama impacted my mental health and my grades.
At this school, I can perform to the best of my abilities while also learning more about my interests outside of school.
My only complaint is that these teachers are terrible at giving feedback and responding to emails.

Professors are great about communication, are kind, and respond to questions quickly. The course almost always includes the textbook so you don't have to pay any additional fees or expenses. The content is solid and often has just enough of a workload to keep you going but not overwhelmed. I have really enjoyed the courses that I have taken so far through Liberty online! I would definitely recommend- great way to get some college credit in before or during college without breaking your bank.
