Liberty High School Reviews
Rating 4.01 out of 5 577 reviews
I rated my experience at Liberty High School as 4/5 stars because, for the most part, I would say that I have enjoyed my time in school for the past two years. The school environment has always been extremely inclusive to all people, and that has definitely made me feel safe and welcomed. The best part of my experience at Liberty High School would be the closeness that I discovered with my friends and teachers. However, the worst part is that the girls' bathroom is not always the cleanest or safest place due to a small group of students who use the area as a place to vape and do drugs. I would advocate for a safer and cleaner bathroom environment. Besides this fact, I am very satisfied and happy with my experience at Liberty High School so far!
Liberty provided constant access to counselors which was very helpful for both academic planning and personal issues. My own counselor was very efficient and I never had to wait long to speak with her, and she was more than willing to personally help me procure my transcripts and send them to colleges. The teachers are similar in their availability to struggling students. However, there is very little school spirit outside of a select few sports. I would have like to see more faculty support for clubs and student-centered events—leaving everything up to students to organize results in a generally blasé attitude towards the (far too many) clubs to choose from and towards the idea of connecting with other kids as Liberty RedHawks rather than simply on a case by case basis. The school could create more excitement around extracurriculars that aren’t just football.
In my time at Liberty High school, I had fantastic teachers, but the overall experience was not great. I took AP courses and all of the teachers were fantastic. I learned so much that was very helpful to my career in College, such as critical analysis and an understanding of the relationship between history and current events. My teachers were very understanding and I felt comfortable reaching out for help if I ever needed it. In my time I was active in the marching band and later the Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) program. Marching band was not for me. There was so much pressure from the directors when I was trying to balance band with my normal academics that it just became too much. ISM however was such a useful course, as I got to explore my career and get practice in making professional connections that will help me even after college. I appreciate all of the work that the teachers are doing, but the attention that extracirriculars expect becomes stressful very quickly.
