LASA is an amazing school with a caring, passionate faculty and awesome students who, for the most part, love to learn. The school is lacking in diversity, and though it's working on it, needs to improve diversity in its recruiting. The best part of LASA by far is the teachers, who go above and beyond for their students and surpassed by expectations of public school teachers. The amenities are sub-par, sports and the arts are not well-funded, and the administration can put up a lot of road blocks for student learning. The Fire Academy with LBJ is amazing and one of a kind! Students' social lives vary, but most still find a balance. Most LASA parents are a little over the top, and anybody knows that the PFLASA crowd is crazy.

"How hard is LASA?"
Short answer: YES, LASA is hard.
No matter how smart or driven you are, LASA is meant to challenge you and prepare you for the real world.
But... GOOD NEWS!
It does. It really does. I have many friends who have gone off to ivy leagues & other 'elite' colleges--Stanford, MIT, Duke, Columbia, Harvard and more. Most of them say this: college is easy. Obviously it's not a breeze, but they see their classmates struggling and doing far worse than them, and accredit it to the fact that they attended LASA. Good studying tactics, ways of dealing with stress, high level classes, and strict teachers/curriculum prepare LASA students for college (and even college applications) in a way that no other high school really can. HOWEVER, ONLY GO IF YOU WANT TO. Without motivation/drive, it will absolutely be the most miserable time of your life. If you want to succeed and believe LASA is a good fit for you, it could be the best decision of your life.
Liberal Arts and Science Academy is a very good school for people who know how to properly organize themselves. Obviously, the homework amount will be abundant, but I feel that it is worth it. Highschool will definitely be a struggle, but you will 100% be more ready for college than most people. To succeed, you will need very good time management, and you will need to put the extra hours whenever you have extra free time. There are a lot of interesting, fun people there, so making friends will be easy. It is located in East Austin, but it is currently moving to a new facility. The school is more STEM involved (as it ranked #6 in the U.S for STEM schools), and there are 100s of clubs. This concludes my ratings of LASA High School. Thank You!
