Lexington Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 4.19 out of 5 175 reviews
Lexington Catholic is an overall good school. The teachers are mostly all really nice and good at their jobs, but some should not be teaching the classes that they teach. I've had teachers who know less about the course than I do, and they just follow a structure given to them. Also, the Highmarks facility is terrible. They've managed to convince hundreds of kids that they have disabilities and that they need teacher help on all tests when in reality, the kid is just not motivated. Also, how the school places incoming freshmen into classes is horrible and wrong.
The academics are phenomenal. Some of the teachers truly care about the students and their successes. However, some teachers are very inexperienced and do not know the content they are teaching. The core values of Lexington Catholic are a very attractive part of the Catholic school education, however, sometimes they can get in the way of students well-being, education, and experience. Some teachers and administrators restrict experiences and conversations about pressing current events, topics, etc. While there are flaws with the administration and faculty, the student body is a close-knit and supportive community.
I feel that I have received a very good education, but the college application preparation is poor preceding senior year. Many of the teachers truly care for their students, but the administration does not always seem to care for their teachers. I also wish there was more encouragement for students to start clubs, as the club fair every year is quite barren. I also feel that the school wastes a lot of time with unnecessary events and that the mandatory religion classes are extremely repetitive, without acknowledging much of the Bible or the church's history. It is also worth noting some of the school's questionable conduct over the pandemic. During the 2020-2021 year, the administration waited until the last minute to inform students or teachers that there would be a virtual option, and did not offer any help to teachers who could not quit but had immunocompromised family to protect. They held events without regard for the current status of Covid in the region.
