Leroy Greene Academy (LGA) is a rigorously academic charter school, operated by NUSD to serve students in 6th through 12th grades. We are a public school with the ability to operate differently than a traditional school. We implement challenging academic programs and high-leverage systems that ensure all students are prepared for college. Students complete coursework in two innovative pathways -- Visual Arts & Technology, and Business Entrepreneurship. Our culture of achievement is defined by high expectations for academic performance and citizenship. We value diversity and connectedness, and we believe that the strength of our Lion PRIDE helps to create a rich educational experience focused on ensuring that all Lion students graduate as college ready.

I have been at Leroy Greene Academy since my first years of middle school and have always loved the small school and closeness between staff and students on campus. Although few things have changed, the school this year has made drastic changes in opinion to the students needs and has strived to improve their on campus satisfactory with all. I feel there are a few implementations that have been made such as offering Ap classes to freshmen, which do not work well in our quarter system since students receive half the time to review a large amount of information. Especially this year there has been much confusion and miscommunication when it came to important events which has been frustrating for seniors. I feel more can be addressed when it comes to the mental health of both staff and students.
As a current student at Leroy Greene Academy, there have been a lot of ups and downs in attending this school. In terms of staff, most teachers are very kind, compassionate, and caring. Your teachers always want you to succeed. However, some things that could be improved upon are the attitudes of students. There have been many cases where students have been disrespectful, rude, and have done untasteful acts, like vandelism. Overall, Leroy Greene Academy is a school like any other, which will guarantee you an average secondary school experience.
I recently just moved to Leroy Greene Academy this year as my past school Alpha Charter shut down. I enjoy the easy short days and how small the school is but I don’t like how it seems as if the faculty doesn’t care about their students well being. It seems as if the school cares more about their graduation rate staying around 100% , as it is just a high-school. I would love to see the staff caring more about he students well being and realizing what generation we are in instead of being so harsh and only caring about a letter grade.
