I went to Leonard all my life. The staff really care for their students and very involved in making sure all the kids succeed.
The student body is very friendly to all move-ins. English and history education was well-rounded. However, the turnover in the math department diminished the opportunities for competent math education. My science education was incredibly lacking for an honors student.
I would like to see a change in the sports, and the band program. I am personally in band, and we constantly need new equipment, I wish there were more students.
The town of Leonard is fairly small, but bigger than some of the surrounding towns. I found my experience at the school to be quite meaningful. Everyone knows everyone... just about, and this brings us closer together. The teachers want the best for each child, and truly care about the students. I believe the math department is lacking, but the new algebra teacher seems to teach well. Sports-wise Leonard High School has a good women athletics program. "We build strong women," is a commonly said quote among us. They are not lying when they say this. One of our girls has ran in Australia, and we have won many awards. Leonard High School is a small town school, but it is a good school. I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this school!
A lot of the teachers do a poor job of teaching, many teachers come and go all the time. The Beta Club is very active and the coaches are great coaches.
Leonard High School is a small town school that does not have as many of the resources to provide its students as larger schools do.
My experience at Leonard High School is what I consider average. Since it is a small school, there aren't really many opportunities to be successful, but being in the top ten of my class means I have been really ambitious in getting a successful life.
There’s are many redeeming qualities about LHS because of the way the teachers like to communicate with students with casual conversation as well as helping prepare students for their future for example my pre calculus & calculus teacher here would always tell us what to expect in college and what professors in college would most likely test on another thing is sports I had a ton of fun playing football at this school and I wasn’t even playing at the time they got their indoor facility built the most important thing about the coaches at LHS is that it’s not all about football or baseball or any sport it’s about your future
My experience at Leonard High School has been very average due to educational and social characteristics of the school system. The environment of the school district is not the best it could be but, it's not the worst place to receive your education. The small town of Leonard provides comfort and stability for the growth of your childhood. The people of Leonard are friendly and well connected with the school and its students. Overall, my experience was average. If I could change anything about the school district I would change the educational administrators and the curriculums they use.
The only "Club" that exsist is Beta Club. Other options include student government, sports, band, UIL, etc.
Overall, the school has many great teachers that will help you as much as they can. The teachers are very knowledgeable in their subjects and teach to the best of their ability.
The high school shares a nurse with the elementary and jurnior high school
Few students participate in most extracurriculars
A small school is what you could normally expect. Athletes get higher grades in order to play, and teachers pick favorites.
Mostly all we have is athletics, softball, volleyball, football, track, baseball, cheerleading, baseball, powerlifting, cross country, golf, and tennis. We put most of our effort and money in to sports. There are a few organizations like student government, band, and one act pay. We extremely lack in clubs, the only club we have is Beta Club.
My experience at this school was sometimes not the best. My mom has been a teacher since I started school and other parents would say I received awards because of that. It was horrible because I never thought I deserved anything. The parents of my fellow students are horrible they cause tons of petty drama and made school dreadful for me, I hated it. After years of it though I learned to ignore it and in high school I participated in cheer, softball, golf, volleyball, student government, and etc. I love being so involved in my school community and being so busy allowed me to forgot about those people and enjoyed my high school experience. Leonard has more of a family oriented environment which made it unique. I honestly could say I don't know if I would stay or choose a different school if I could do it all over again.
Most teachers put a lot of hard work into their lessons but others do not want to challenge or teach their students. At times I feel like we as the students are the teachers. The school has a very friendly and family oriented environment. Only a few teachers will give their time up to work with students outside of school. The communication between student and teachers is not the best. Leonard has some great teachers but there are a few that drag the academics down.
