My experience at Earl J. Lennard High school has definitely been a crazy one. My freshman year was as normal as any student's who went goes a public highschool in Florida, the classes were easy, I made friends super easily and I had fun. However, my sophomore year is where everything changed. My highschool was over packed with students so there was bound to be people who didn't like other people and plus the heat; that made it worse. Their were physical fights almost every week and there was even a fight week where there was fight after every period, we had 8 periods in a day, it was a lot to handle. To add on to that, COVID-19 was starting to happen and everybody was worried what was going to happen. When we took that extra week off of spring break most of us thought 'yay extra time off' little did we know we were about to be thrown into a full blown pandemic, everything was about to change. In my junior year I just focused on my grades throughout. Now im on to my senior year, yay!
Great teachers. Lot's of student activities and support from administration. We have a variety of sports, clubs and activities. Lennard has a collegiate program, AP courses and Dual Enrollment. Our students are challenged academically while offering extra curricular activities. In our most challenging time during COVID Lennard offered elearning as a choice so students could continue their learning with extra teacher support. For those who chose elearning the school provided laptops and free WI-FI for those who needed it. Lennard has a great guidance counselors who support students on every level of learning and wellbeing. Lennard's guidance counselors have an open door policy are can also be reached via email and will respond with hours. Most of Lennard's teachers care about the students and their well being. The school also offers mental health support for those who need it and they provide every student information on who to contact for these services on and off campus.
Lennard is a very diverse school. We have different clubs and activities, even various of sports to get involved in! When I was a freshman here, I immediately joined a sport which was Track & Field and made friends who are like family to me now. Now I am involved in Cheerleading and absolutely love it. We have HCC across the street and a program called Collegiate Academy and Dual Enrollment. I am involved in Dual Enrollment which is taking college classes while in High School. The administration take good care of us and take proper precautions when needed. We have Black history month shows and Hispanic Heritage shows. The ESE kids put on a play and most students come and support them. As usual, school lunch isn’t the greatest but if you’re hungry you eat it of course. Overall, Lennard is a good school.
