Leland High School Reviews

The teachers, academic counselors, and admins have no idea what's going on but the students are really eager to learn and get into colleges, which makes Leland a good environment to learn in. However, the academics and resources here are NOT the best. You have to be prepared to self-learn for a lot of AP classes and find out things about college on your own. However, very few teachers are the most caring, smart, and amazing people you'll ever meet!

PROS:
Leland High School is an amazing institution filled with academically motivated students. The Quixilver robotics team succeeds at competitions and the Leland Speech and Debate team is ranked the #1 team in the country thanks to the outstanding efforts of world class coaches like Mrs. Gay Brasher. Students pursue extraordinary extracurricular activities and internships, reflected in their lengthy resumes and impeccable college acceptance results.
CONS:
Hundreds of students share access to less than 10 academic counselors, severely diminishing their ability to get individualized advice for their high school journey. The campus has not been renovated since its construction in the 1960s, leading to filthy bathrooms and inadequate athletic facilities.
OVERALL:
Leland Chargers are an exemplary bunch, but the lack of resources despite being located in the affluent Silicon Valley contribute to the downsides of this school.
The resources available to students at Leland High School are outstanding. Due to the diversity of the students, students have made many achievements in academics, sports, and clubs. Several of the teachers are also extremely friendly and approachable--creating a great environment for students. However, I do think that if some of the teachers had more experience, it would make Leland an even better school. The administration and college counselors are eager to drive all students towards success!
