I'm apart of a challenging magnet program for visual art called N.E.S.A. My favorite part is working with, learning about and making genuine connections with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds and cultures who also share a passion with me in the creative arts. Every teacher I have interacted with is passionate about their place in each student's lives, just as we are to each other. The worst part about lee is unfortunately lack of funding. Because it is a public school in Texas -in a lower middle class area- we don't receive nearly as much funding necessary to support each student to their fullest potential. If I could see one thing change it would be to have enough money to not worry about paper shortages, whether or not we can afford a sub during days a teacher is absent, or keep enough custodians for the campus to stay beautiful. Each student, teacher, and staff, deserves a full healthy experience without the worry of basic monetary constrictions.
Legacy of Educational Excellence, or LEE as I will refer to it, is a decent school with many positive aspects although sometimes it falls short. The APs definitely speak down to and act much holier than thou when interacting with students. As far as teachers are concerned I've been fortunate enough to get most of my classes with teachers that are passionate about their work and put in a lot of effort for the students. Although, I've had classes with, and have heard about, teachers that are ill-tempered, difficult to understand, and seem determined on making the work unnecessarily hard. There is staff and counselors that are there for the sole purpose of preparing for life after high school and such resources are very valuable to students who are seeking scholarships and guidance. LEE also has various magnet programs such as a school of the arts, a stem program, and even an integrated magnet school known as the International School of the Americas.
Everyone has different experiences in high school. When I enjoyed the most from this school was meeting new people, getting to know my peers, the teachers, and definitely the funny and caring coaches on the staff. Some of the best memories were heading to basketball game and singing with my team to hype ourselves up before a big game and locking in. They have taught me to be strong physically and mentally and know how to be tough. My high school experience was different then most due ti voice but all class of 23’ got through these last four years and we know it’s something to remember. But like all go things, there are some negatives. I experience the worst heartbreak of my life and i don’t know if I’ll ever be able to move on past it. The relationship taught me a lot of things but it mostly taught me to be selective in who I bring into my world. Not everyone deserves your time or energy and you have to know when to choose the most important to yourself.
