Legacy is a good school academically, but it's lacking in the math department. There are only 1 or 2 actually good math teachers, but the rest assign busywork that doesn't teach you anything or they throw you difficult problems without teaching you how to do it and then get mad when nobody knows how. I liked the music/art programs and the English department, however, there is favoritism towards the sports teams even though the band is wildly more successful than them. I enjoyed my time at Legacy for the most part, bu the annoying things never get addressed.
With only two years of high school experience so far, there isn't much to complain about. It functions as a high school without any major problems. Its location is very convenient as there is a grocery store right across the way with a very beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains behind it. Our sports organizations do very well and usually end up making it very far. The teachers know how to communicate with their students without feeling too removed. I'm interested to see how the rest of my time there will play out.
I felt that the school provided rigorous and intense coursework that has helped prepare me for college. As well as the heightened academic focus, Legacy provided an excellent band program for me to be apart and expand my musicianship. While the school has many pros, that being the rigorous academic curriculum and the prestigious band program, I felt the focus on students’ social and mental well-being was lacking. The counselors very rarely provided mental-health talks and only focused on getting all seniors to graduate. In hindsight, while it is good to have graduation rates be high, mental health is equally as important to ensure students’ comfort and success
