I’ve really liked spending the last 4 years at LSW! I think the teachers are great, and the building is really nice. I also like the counseling center resources like college prep help and graduation requirement meetings, but I wish I would’ve known about them sooner. There is tons of school spirit, which makes for a fun environment. The student body numbers are getting too high, so the hallways are crowded, and there are classes in mobiles which are inconvenient. There is also a lot of favoritism as far as which sports and/or people get recognition for achievements. Overall, West is a great school, and I feel prepared for college after going there.

My experience at Lee's Summit West was exceptional. Lee's Summit West's best characteristic is the number of academic opportunities they give in order to find the right career path. They offer programs such as PLTW, IB Programs, Summit Technology Academy, and many others. I personally chose to take advantage of the PLTW (Project Lead The Way) White Coat Program and I took two of those at Summit Technology Academy. This provided me with important knowledge to put me a step ahead when I begin my college learning. The aspect that needs some work at Lee's Summit West is the influence of teachers. Teachers have too much influence on the social aspects of the high school making it not up to the students, only up to the teachers. Favorites are played making it an unfair game for the students who are not friends with the teachers who have an influence on what clubs or awards they receive. This must change for the atmosphere of Lee's Summit West to be fair for all students.
Lee's Summit West High School has opportunities for everyone to get involved. From sports to music to robotics, there's something for a variety of interests. If your basic graduation requirements are completed, you can choose to go off campus to Summit Technology Academy, Herndon Vocational School, work as a cadet teacher at an elementary school, participate in the work study program, or participate in an internship. All of these choices give us the chance to find what we're interested in before we go to college.
