The student community is very diverse and while there is plenty of support for students who are either struggling or falling behind, it’s typically the student’s decision that puts them in a poor place. While there are some teachers and staff that genuinely care about their students and their performance, there are just as many that brush off their student’s needs to the point where in and out of class time is not enough to be prepared. While the facility itself has it’s flaws such as multiple nonfunctional water faucets, bathroom doors with broken locks, and water fountains with questionable tinted water, the community is very open towards new students, especially for those that have to pass through a language barrier. This school is not for everyone, but if you like a vibrant community and are willing to put up with the facility’s disadvantages then Lee High School is the right place for you!

I came here after moving away from my home state. The first thing i noticed was how friendly everyone is here. The teachers do work with students with our success in mind. All the students (now friends), teachers and my counselor were extremely helpful in adjusting to Lee and Virginia. There's loads of miscellaneous clubs and sports to join (I'm in Cranes for a Cause and I run). Every now and then the school will host events too (chili cook off, international night, musicals, and spirit weeks). I do wish we had more of a heads up when it comes to class meetings or schedule shifts though (having my plans get thrown out isn't great). Besides timing, Lee is pretty good at utilizing remind, announcements and social media (Instagram) to reach out to students. Overall, I know I will miss Lee after I graduate.
Lee is a fairly decent school, despite its rather debatable reputation. There are a lot of people with a lot of different mindsets and different ways of handling things. The teachers manage to do well teaching the variety of students, and I know some who actually go around and ask whether or not their way of teaching is helpful for her students. However, there are still some things that could definitely be improved. I feel that mental health issues could be more explored, as I know students with depression who feel that their teachers don't respect or care for them. There is also a lot of stress that goes along with that, especially with the IB students. Test after test and essay after essay hardly ever gives the students a chance to relax and de-stress themselves.
