My experience with Lawrence was very good, all though I was only there for my 7th grade and it was cut short due to Covid-19. There are only enough good teachers for one team. The enrichment program is very engaging and the sports are very good, I wish they had a Hockey team though. The kids who complain about the dress code clearly have never wore a suit and tie to school, it really isn't that bad. The way the staff handle bullying and other situations, although it doesn't happen often, is very good. The lunch and food was very good. They have programs to have free or reduced lunch, they also have a breakfast program which was new last year.
The school is very serious when it comes to bullying. No one is allowed to get away with it if it is reported; if it isn't, however, there's likely no way anything will be done. There's not a lot of cameras to see what's going on around the building.
Personal safety wise, people are pretty secure. There's no metal detectors and when I went there two years ago there was a single (I think she was unarmed) cop who stood in the lunch room. I didn't see her anywhere else in the building though. As with all schools, there are always kids who can't control themselves and sometimes it's difficult for the administration to get IEP's or school of choice for the kids. What I mean is, there's always some danger from other students, but I've never heard of any serious threats from Lawrence.
We do have random fire drills, lockdowns, and searches. I believe the dogs were brought in once when I was in 7th grade.
The school nurse is pretty average. Probably could handle situations better though.
We don't really have many health programs. We have a mandatory health class (including some sex ed) as well as mandatory gym. There are after school sports, but not any clubs strictly for health.
Overall I think the school does an okay job with health. The food isn't really as healthy as it could be; meaning as growing kids we need to eat more than a small handful of chicken nuggets or a slice of pizza and milk. There's security and it's probably enough for junior high. I've never felt threatened there. The windows, however, are an issue that's currently trying to be solved by the town. In eighth grade we ended up having to call a janitor to open a window just because they are so dangerous and heavy to open. The building has terrible AC and it can get really, really hot.

Lawrence has funding issues, especially with the fact that the building itself is really old and needs maintenance more than it needs a band program. They have a large band that only meets in class every third day. An after school jazz band meets once a week on Thursdays. There's after school sports that people can get involved with. They have pep rallies in which everyone joins in (mandatory) and the teachers get just as into it as the students. There's one play put on each year and students can get involved. Some teachers help out with this is well. There's a yearbook crew, math team, Gay Straight Alliance, and an art club. Overall it seems as though not many people are seriously involved in the clubs.
