Despite complaints from other people, I have seen the difference in education between Brookline and other school districts and feel it's worth the investment to live here. I do think it's easy to fall behind if you are not very active with the teachers. My advice to the school administration is that they need to enforce that all teachers keep up with Canvas as much as they expect students to turn in materials in a timely manner. I feel they're compensated enough to have a wide range of skills or teachers helpers to ensure they provide the students with these necessary tools.
I went here 10 years ago for elementary school only. It was neat. A lot of the teachers were skilled and really cared about their jobs, and the resources to support me when I had a mental health crisis were pretty extensive as well (if maybe a bit heavy on transferring responsibility to someone else at first.) I don't know if the same nurse still works there, but she was an especially wonderful, caring resource.
I learned everything I needed to be prepared for higher grades here, and some extra things. Lots of reading time, solid music classes. The only real weak point was the Spanish program.
Also, the student body was surprisingly diverse, given the area.

Lawrence is a great school full of excellent teachers and great resources. That is, until you reach middle school. The administration has done nothing to fix the abysmal student environment plaguing a school with great potential. As much as they claim to have a "safe, just, and caring community", bullying and harrassment are rampant among the students. Parents, this is a great place to send your children for elementary. Just, do them a favor and pull them out before middle school.
